Thermostat housing

Hi, I have 1987 GM 4.3l merc IO. I just replaced the thermo housing with the t balls and it is different then the old one. With the new housing the t-stat doesn't set on top, it goes inside the housing. I looked it up and it seems that I am missing a collar or sleeve? Do I need to get the sleeve. Did I get the right housing. Right now it doesn't have the sleeve and the engine doesn't warm up.

Ayuh,... If the housing you're useing needs the sleeve,... It won't work Without it,...
