Hey fellow boaters I have a problem with my TACH. The Tach needle never moves when motor is running. Heres what I have done I replaced the rectifier ,checked all wire connections to terminal block on motor 1983 johnson 115 hp v-4 . They are all good and correctly connected. I checked the connections to the Tach all good as well and getting power. Also checked voltage at battery 12.45, when motor is slightly rev. volts go to 13.85. I ,thought maybe bad rectifier , is this the correct voltage I should expect. I am trying to keep from spending 65 to 90 dollars for a new Tach unless it is needed. Thanks for any imput. MR. Re: Tach not working

Try to wiggle the pole adjusting screw at the back of the tach. If still no reaction, test that you have any signal in the gray wire to the tach.
If any signal (voltage AC), replace the tach.
