removed and rebuilt carbs, engine timing was fine before rebuild.did not mess with any linkage adj. manual says to 1 reset (timing pointer adjustment) with special omc tool, is this necessary. 2 (time engine) at idle in forward gear,no problem there.3 (maximum spark advance) time engine at 5000 rpm, how am i to do that,if i back my trailer in to water ill ruin my prop,if i tie my boat to dock ill rip the cleats off my boat. how do you do it.all roll pins and stop screws were not touched during rebuild wouldnt settings still be good other than low idle adjustment obviously.if i sound like a dummy maybe i am a dummy!

If the timing was good before, it should still be OK. You don't do anything with the timing screw when removing the carbs. If you want to recheck it, you can do so underway once you get the engine back in the water.
