1992 xr6 150. An on-going saga here.
Do you check the stator while it's connected to the switch box, or disconnected? Resistance readings are per specs. Voltage checks with the stator unhooked are within specs. Once you connect the stator to the switch boxes, high speed winding voltage drops to around 17. Low speed is also around 17.
Bad stator, or bad switches???

You check the resistances with the stator disconnected. You check the voltages with it connected (so there is a load) Sounds like a bad stator.

Hi...I'm assuming these are peak or DVA voltages. Are these measured with the motor running or not? All I could get with my multimeter with the motor running were voltages that kept jumping all over the place (with a DVA adapter hooked up)...?? (97 40 hp merc, 4 cyl..single switch box)

I was checking at cranking RPM. I think that's roughly 450-500. I ended up replacing the stator, trigger, both regulators and both switches. Problem solved. Unlike the government, I thru a bunch of money at something and it worked out.......:)
Now if I could get the blasted foot back on, I'd be in business.
