This article is about a terrible accident near a small but busy tourist harbor last weekend.
I do not know any more than the details in the link. It may have actually happened in the lake but I suspect it was in the channel. Last summer I was in this harbor on a weekend and I was shaking my head. The channel leading from West lake and harbor to Lake Ontario is narrow and was full of people fishing, swimming, floating. Each one of these people passed a public sandy beach that ended 100 yds before the channel. If you were swimming at the beach there would be zero boat traffic within 300 yds of shore. The beach was empty.
