I have an 86 Suzuki DT40C that has a aftermarket electrical starter kit put in. My motor has recently decided to stop charging my cranking battery. Any Ideas what the part I need to replace would be called? Ive been searching under alternator and havent been able to come up with anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is usually a coil under the flywheel that creates alternating current. That current gets fed to a rectifier/regulator where AC gets converted to DC and the voltage is controlled to more or less 14.5 volts.

Check those components and all the wiring and connections to them.
