1986 85hp Force. When I give it full throttle it stutters for about three seconds and then takes off. I am running my mix a little heavy (40:1) because it was rebuilt recently. Any ideas?

Stuttering usually indicates a rich condition. It could be the increased amount of oil you are using. You should probably leave it that way till after the break in.

Thats what I thought, but I just wanted reassurance from a pro. I also broke a stainless bolt off in the lower unit housing. What is the best way to get it out. It is corroded pretty bad. I tried to drill it but my bits won't cut it. Thanks

I have the same motor and it also stutters like that too. I'm running a 50:1 ratio though. It's at least comforting to know that other motors like mine do the same thing.

Where is the bolt going to? The water pump?

the plate below the stainless plate that the water pump sits on. It covers up the gears.

stutter and GO is ok, maybe a little rich.<br />stall and DIE is not ok, running lean.

What kind of bit will drill stainless?

Try using a titanium bit on the stainless.
