1986 85hp Force. When I give it full throttle it stutters for about three seconds and then takes off. I am running my mix a little heavy (40:1) because it was rebuilt recently. Any ideas?

Re: stutter

Stuttering usually indicates a rich condition. It could be the increased amount of oil you are using. You should probably leave it that way till after the break in.

Re: stutter

Thats what I thought, but I just wanted reassurance from a pro. I also broke a stainless bolt off in the lower unit housing. What is the best way to get it out. It is corroded pretty bad. I tried to drill it but my bits won't cut it. Thanks

Re: stutter

I have the same motor and it also stutters like that too. I'm running a 50:1 ratio though. It's at least comforting to know that other motors like mine do the same thing. :)

the plate below the stainless plate that the water pump sits on. It covers up the gears.
