Strengthening the floor/Bottom.
I am rebuilding a small sailboat for my dad. (13'-6")
(if you care, the boat is a bench style Flying Junior - FJ / CFJ)
Best way to describe the boat's construction is probably like a fiberglass canoe.
Different shape but same construction.
When I took this boat out, I noticed the floor/bottom flexing.
To solidify the boat I plan an the following.
1. Roughly sand all paint off the floor.
2. Using a thin layer of Fiberglass (Woven Mat) across the entire floor.
Probably in 2 or 3 large pieces. (Left then right side)
3. Repaint the floor with a non skid paint.
I have never done any glass work so I aam open for any help or suggestions.
Thank you,
Andre
P.S.
I am restoring this for him as an upgrade to his current sailboat.
He currently has a Laser, these are not great for taking the wife out on.
(The Laser is the same Laser we've had since I was 3.)
