the motor is a 1989 120Hp Johnson.... i tested the timer base and then the stator... timer base was 43 ohms which is spec...

but the stator reading was 507ohms... which according to the manual its over the limit... could this be wrong since i used a digital meter or stator is bad?

when i checked the stator i left the two yellow wires hooked up. could that give the higher ohm reading?

You have to disconnect the yellow wires to get a meaningful reading.

Re: stator reading 507 ohms

i disconnected the yellow wires and the reading was still high 510... i assume the reason why the reading was slightly higher this time is because it was hotter today that yesterday...

i'm still wondering if i should change the stator or not.... is 30 ohms a big deal?? could corrosion cause the high reading?
