Stator Interchangability

I have 3 Mercury engines - 1973 850, 1972 1400, and 1976 1150. Will the stator interchange between these three motors? They are all 2 wire stators. Is there any hard and fast rule when it comes to distributor equipped inline stator interchangability?

great, thats what i wanted to hear. thanks. they all look different in terms of the wrapping/insulation, but as long as they fit and perform the same job then i'm all set.
