Aloha, i have a 1999 35hp johnson that is having problems with manual stater recoil. sometimes when i pull to start, the rope will not recoil, however if i push on the starter lockout spring ,it recoils fine. it appears that the starter lockout cam is not in the correct position when the shift lever is in neutral. does anyone know if there is an adjustment for the starter lockout cam?
it appears the cam is in the down position (not engaged) when in neutral and it should be up to engage the lockout so it will recoil. hope this makes sense to some of you, any help would be appreciated.
