I have a quick stupid question.I have a 1985 90hp johnson with the VRO dissconnected,I am going to change my plugs today and noticed the plug numbers were just a little different. The ones I took out of my motor were Champion L77JC4's and the ones I bought were Champion QL77JC4 are these the wrong plugs, that I bought.I just dont want to put the wrong plug in and hurt my motor. Also refresh my memory but what is the gap need to be set at also?
Thank you for your help in advance,

Re: sparkplug??

The QL is the correct plug.

Book says to set them at .030. But a little better idle can be had if you set them at .040. Won't effect top end either.

Re: sparkplug??

The Q means it has an inductive suppressor. It probably didn't exist at the time your book was printed. But it is the "new and improved" version. You are good to go.
