I recently purchased a used boat that had a few minor quirks. I have got everything fixed except the trim. I have the 1997 30. Merc with Alpha 1 out drive. The trim works fine going down, but up is a different story. It will creep up and sometimes stall. I have to go down and back up in order for it to continue its creep up. The trim pump sounds like it works properly, but sounds like the fluid will not be going through the pump sometimes when going up. There is plenty of fluid in the reservoir. If it was related to the rams, would I have a problem both up and down? Is my pump to blame? I am just trying to find a place to start to troubleshoot this problem. All fittings are tight and there are no leaks in the system. Just slow operation in the upward direction of the trim. Any help is appreciated.
