Hey!

I have been checking things out on my new motor, trying to get my idle down a bit... and noticed the crack in the plastic on the end of the shift cable lever, where it attachs to the motor to change gear.

its a 2005 115hp mercury 2 stroke.

Is it possible to just replace teh plastic piece?? or am I going to have to fish a whole new cable up to the shifter??

Thanks for any help

Re: shift cable ends?

The older Merc cables had removeable ends. There was a small square-headed set screw (maybe 1/8" square?) just behind the end of the cable. Not sure if your cables have this feature.

No I dont, I just had a good look at them. Its all plastic, with just that little silver circle showing, which I assume is the end of the cable?

Guess I am going to have to order and fish a new cable up there.

I guess its good I noticed that now, instead of breaking down on the water..
