Shake and wobble at Idle.

Is it normal for an outboard to shake and wobble at Idle? I have a 1990 40 hp on a pontoon. It has always done this but I first thought to question it today. It runs good and idles good, but seems to move around more than I would expect it to. Please let me know if it is normal or if there is anything I could try to minimize it.

A motor that's running a little lean, will shake a bit more at idle. Does it have a "popping" noise when it's shaking?

You might check the motor mounts, broken mounts will let the engine shake quite a bit.
