Second coat of bottom paint

I had anti-fouling paint put on my 16 foot skiff 2 years ago by a marina. I have barnacles on the bottom now, enough to cause drag. I scraped them off rather easily and want to apply another coat of anti-fouling paint. Question, will a gallon be enough for a 16 foot skiff? Also, do I need to sand and prep to bottom or just apply the paint?

Re: Second coat of bottom paint

hi welcome to i boats.

the key to adheasion is with surface prep.
a light scuffing would do best. the manufacturer has specific directions on how to use the paint and the coverage area, read the can and follow the directions exactally.

that will give you the best job.

cheers
