Im refurbishing a 14' boat and Im getting down to needing seat pedestals but Im confused to the different types and their benefits or shortcomings.

Which is sturdier for a big guy, a large cast base (9-10"} or the pole type that goes in a socket?

What about the 1" pole types.

I kind of like the idea of the smaller pole/socket arrangement as I can out sockets in different places for fishing or being underway.

Your thoughts?

Don't think they make a pole socket pedestal that's rated for use underway

Totally agree. I researched for months and never found any, Ended up with 3 different pedestals for mine. 1) Driver Rated 2) Adjustable Passenger rated and 3) Removable Post for fishing only rated for 5mph max
