Rude 9.9 1980 electronic spark plug gap

I heard somewhere that electronic ignition may have a spark plug gap of .040 ... is this ok?, or more, or less?

They tend to foul less at .040 when trolling and low speed.

So, can we say: .030 for trolling and low speed, .035 for medium speed, and .040 for high speed operation?

Would a 78 15 be in the same boat ?<br /><br />Hmm, on second thought, i dont know bout this. Dont know what type of ignition mine has.
