friend bought it and an AquaSport 19.5 Cuddy Cabin with trailer for $500!

Cranked it up after about a year of sitting idle. Took a couple of tries but it fired up and sounds great on a hose. Taking it to the lake to try it under load this week. What a steal he got.

Wow, an SST 1 -- how rare is that??? And look at where the cup ends... no wonder they didnt bite well.

And, a 1988 235 is really rare (since OMC didnt made a 235 that year).

Re: Rude 235 1988

The word on Evi's is INTRODUCES. I=1, N=2 and so on. Try the serial number. 88 would start out CC. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but this is what one of the local dealers told me when I owned my Evi. Mine was a 91 and started out EI.

No, you've got it right sangerwaker. To make it real easy on Gil:
E - Evinrude
235 - 235hp
TR - Tilt&trim, Sport styling
L - Longshaft (20" transom)
CS - 1980
M - Meaningless model run code.
Sounds like both parties walked away laughing... :D

Re: Rude 235 1988

Thanks guys.

Actually the buyer is quite happy and I think he guessed at the age. The seller was not very boat savy at all. I doubt he even knew what year it was unless he checked the paperwork. His Hummingbird FF was wired with lampcord wire taped to the outside of the gunnels with velcro and connected with electricians tape!

Anyway it runs great, is very clean and the guy that purchased it is rather mechanical with outboards so he's very happy. Of course with the correct year.... he might get the right parts for it 2!
A man and his "project". A beautiful thing!

Frank, are you referring to the process of posting a pic to the board?

Yes, Gil....sometimes a picture says more than 1000 words, and for us bl**dy foreigners most usefull if we cannot find the right word or description for something. A thingy, whatyamacallit and such confuse people :D .
On the other hand, mods might not like everybody cluttering up theirs boards...so I, for one, promise to use it sparingly.(not in the last place because I'm very ugly myself, but you would love my blond Cocker Spaniel)
