Rochester 2bbl carb compatability...

I was out and found a "mans" rummage sale, so I stopped.
I found an old, in good condition Rochester 2bbl carb(with two adjusting screws and automatic choke)which looks identical to the one on my boat.

So my questions are:
1. Can I rebuild this and keep it for a spare?
2. If so...is there a marine specific kit?

Thanks in advance.

What is the model of the carb? If it's one of the marine carbs, then you can rebuild and have as a spare... There is no specific 'marine' gasket kit.... Any gasket kit for that carb will do the job...

I couldn't find a tag on it. There's a number stamped in...7008597, I suspect this is for automobile application. Oh well...$5 spent. If nothing else, I'll use it as a practice piece and rebuild it to get a feel for how these things work. It has a "port" on the opposite side of the two mixture screws and the fuel line enters through what would be the forward face of the bowl, rather than the port side as my current carb is set up.

That'll be the vacuum advance port, so it's definitely an automotive carb...

Any way to "convert" it for marine use?

It's a very old early 50's carb. Has to be automotive, marine carbs didn't even exist back then.

Bet it has the vent on the top too.
