I have removed my old motor mounts due to rot and looking at what I should replace them with. Originally there was a 2x4 running fore up to the gas tank bulk head. Attached to this they laminated a 4x4 wood block for the mount.

I am wondering should I replace the 2x4 and 4x4 with laminated ply or should I stick to dimensional lumber?

The 2x4 was set in so it was 3.5" tall the rest of the flat horizontal going out to the floor support was 1/2plywood setting ontop of the 2x4.

Im only assuming that your actual Mounts are fastened down with lag bolts ?

If thats the case you might want that 4x made from dimentional..
