replacing hydraulic unit for sea-drive

I removed the tilt-trim unit to replace the leaking seal between transom and unit, now I can't seem to fit the unit back on. Is there a trick to this?

found the trick...lift the motor high enough, brace it, and it slides into place with no trouble. I do have the manual.
