purchased 2001 sylvan 1700 explorer 90 hp merc. have sender question

has gas gauge problem. needs new sender. how do I find and acess fuel tank & sender?

Not sure about your 2001, but on my 2010 it's under the round plastic floor cover right in front of the rear bench. I don't think they changed the Explorer a whole lot over the years, except they dropped the 1700 for 2011.
