Will a complete power trim and tilt off a 3 cylinder engine fit onto a 4 cylinder?

maybe. First dose it fit the space? I assume that it dose. If the weight is similar or smaller it will probably work. Tell us both motors specs.

The motor I want to put it on is a 1972 65HP, it is coming off a 1975 50/65HP. I have to look at both the 50 and 65 to make sure all of the parts are there. I was told that a Power trim and tilt for the 50 and 65 are the same units - hope that is correct?

For motor that close together, I would say yes...I just replace mine with an aftermarket, and it was for 50hp to 150hp.

As long as both engines are Mercury, it should fit. If the 65 doesn't have P/T already, make sure to remove the Neutral-Reverse Locking Mechanism.

I would assume they would have to be the same brand. My motor are smaller and older so I have a manual locking lever for reverse. They scare you when you forget to set it.
