:( d'oh no charging then! will have to manually charge the battery then for the bilge, lights and radio...

I did find the wiring diagram for your motor, pyro. http://mastertechmarine.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/60r.jpg The serial number for Belgium motors is just before yours. It does show the wiring for the stop switch.

The stator does seem to be different than the ones in my first links. But again, no rectifier and supporting wiring. Also as said several times, manual and electric start use different stators. So I think you're stuck with using a battery charger unless you want to spend the money to convert to a charging system.

brilliant - so middle red wire thanks ever so much :) can you show me a pic of how the choke should look as i have no button just a bit of wire! thanks
