i have a 1987 johnson 6 horse that has developed a plug fouling problem. tried two sets of plugs, and will run fine for about three hours at trolling speed, then starts crapping out. any simple checks to try, or we talking a ring job. any info will be helpful. thanks in advance.............bob

------------------

Re: plug fouling

If you're trolling for 3 hours before the plugs foul, it is likely in need of a carb adjustment.....too rich.

Well BOB what kinda oil are you running in this thing? How fresh is that fuel? Are you carting around a lot of weight?Just a few things to consider.

Re: plug fouling

SOUNDS LIKE YOU SHOULD CHECK THE CARB. IT MAY NEED TO BE JETTED DOWN A BIT. WHAT ALTITUDE ARE YOU AT? I KNOW ON MOTORCYCLE ENGINES YOU CAN MIX A LITTLE MORE OIL IN THE GAS AND THAT WILL LEAN OUT THE FUEL AIR MIXTURE A BIT. MIGHT WORK. GOOD LUCK.P
