Re: Paint

There is an aerosol product at Home Depot for stripping aluminum. Can't seem to remember the darn name though. They use it on aircraft and such.

Re: Paint

Most of the liquid strippers will work fine as they are mostly basic in pH. Check the label as they will include the application. Don't forget to do a proper prep before repainting and also be careful of the glass and seals. I would try to keep it off any surface other than what I am working on.

Use good disposable rubber gloves and be sure to use eye protection at ALL times. That stuff gets really nasty!

Get a drop on your skin and you'll find out quickly why you really need to have eye protection on... it HURTS.

Klean-Strip makes a product called 'Aircraft Remover'. Its some really tough stuff, and meant to go on Alum. If the local home improvement store doesn't have it, most auto paint stores will carry it in quarts or gallons.

They also make a spray can version, but be real real careful with it. Look for a blue & white can with a airplane on it.
