Padded casting decks and floor??

I am going to recarpet a ranger bass boat. i was thinking about padding the decks and floor like these high end bass boats using thin plastic pad that goes under hardwood floors, by gluing it down first and the gluing the carpet to that.

What do you guys think about this?

Might at like a sponge; suck up water and hold it, leading to a rot issue down the road.

If it were me, I'd just go with marine carpet. I don't see myself fishing barefoot and in need of a soft comfortable carpet.

I am going to use marine carpet, . . good point on on acting like a sponge, the last thing i want is to have to replace the carpet a second time.
