When idling, I am hearing a whining sound which sounds like it’s coming from the outdrive. When I turn the steering wheel, the noise changes. When I turn all the way to the right it gets much louder and the pitch lowers. Any idea what this could be? It does not sound like it is coming from the front of the motor (fuel pump, power steering, water pump, belt, etc). I recently replaced the gimbal and u-joints. It did feel a little rough turning sharp today. I hope the new bellows aren’t letting in water.

When the whine gets louder, if steering is all the way turned, it sounds like the power steering fluid

I’ll check it, but it didn’t sound like it was coming from there. Definitely sounds like rear of the motor. Could it be the steering ram/actuator assembly making the noise? That is where I hear it. I’ll have to check the fluid level. I’m not seeing a leak. Thanks.
