I just got the boat and running all is well other than some fine tweaking. I have been seeing some wet spots where the drive bolts to the outdrive housing. Im thinkning of replacing the gasket and using some good goop with the gasket. any tipes here why it might be leaking?

well.. the engine water supply is on the left, could be coming from there..

there is an o-ring type seal there too.. and you shouldn't need any goop.

Did you have the drive off ?

Poor sealing surface(s)- were they cleaned up, removing any traces of old gasket and any other crud. Are the surfaces physically damaged or warped in any way?
Bad gasket. Sometimes the just fail. Or failure to seal, if required by mfg.
Improper torque when attaching outdrive, perhaps unit vibrated loose.
This is a start, more scenarios are possible.
