Ouestion about alpha 1

On this alpha one the shift shaft is 2 pieces and is has splines between the lower and upper.
Is it possible when mating the lower back up to the upper to get the two half's of the shift shaft
Clocked wrong with the splines or is there only one way they can go back together.
For example is there one large spline in both half's where as they can only fit together one way.

And if you leave the washer off it can be a down right PITA.
