My 6 gallon metal OMC tank for my 1976 Evinrude outboard has a fuel gauge on top. It hasn't worked since I got the boat a year ago. It always reads empty. Is there a way to fix these older tanks? I would sure like to tell how much fuel I have without lifting the tank or opening the cap.

I think you will find that all parts of the fuel gauge assembly are available.

It should be possible to identify what you need and by referring to the parts catalog get the part number and order from your normal dealer

im with vic, i wouldnt bother.....those guages are not much more than a novelty , they arent to be trusted unless you do your boating in a calm bathtub, and even then they are iffy. jmo

Probably just needs a new cork float. They get old and water-logged (gas-logged) and stop floating. Easy fix.
