Mercruiser 1986 gimbal with newer style Tilt/Trim cylinders is being pumped by a 1976 older style trim pump.<br /><br />Can that cause the outdrive to move up and down real slooooooow?<br /><br />No lines are crossed. Switches work fine. Pump is pumping to beat the band. Sounds like it's working on the way down, but not working as hard on the way up.. just like free spinning almost.<br /><br />No leaks anywhere..<br /><br />Systems is full of oil and I operated it up and down about a couple million times with the pump vent open in order to self-purge the system.<br /><br />After completing a pressure test next.. my plan is to remove the cylinders from 'aft' part of the outdrive itself and see if one is not moving in one direction or the other and if all is good I'll begin a complete purge, as outlined in the Mercruiser Manual for the older model pump systems.<br /><br />It takes like 2 minutes or more to get this outdrive UP.<br /><br />nuts.
