I recently purchased a 1980 Johnson 9.9HP. Changed the plugs, and lower unit fluid. Runs well in a barrell, but I noticed some of the lower unit fluid coming out of the middle of the prop. Took prop off to see if I could see anything but I'm afraid to go much further. I read in manual, that when I fill lower unit, to fill till it comes out top vent hole, then to drain about an ounce for expansion. I didn't drain an ounce. Did lower unit fluid expand, then get forced out somewhere? I probably need to change impeller because previous owner didn't know when last time was replaced. Good pee hole stream though.
