No Spacer in Thermostat Housing?

Pertinent Info: 1990 4.3L V6 Alpha One Gen I

My engine ran hot until I replaced the impeller. Then it ran cold so I am in the process of replacing the thermostat. It's the 6 hose thermostat housing with the small diamond-shaped plate up top. According to the diagram from top to bottom, I should have a Cover, Gasket, Spacer, Thermostat, o_ring, and Housing. I don't have a spacer! I'm surprised the o-ring stuck around. I've looked online for just the spacer and am having a hard time finding it. Anyone know if I can get one by itself and if so, the part number?

Just bought one myself. My origional one was steel but was mangeled when I tried to get it out. The new one is plastic. The sleeve was about 8 dollars at my local dealer.
