My motor went awhile without running. It's used as a kicker. Now it won't start. Checked spark (good), changed gas no luck. Removed and cleaned carb. and noticed bowl was empty. Filled the bulb and installed the carb, engine ran fine until the bowl emptied then it died. The fuel to the pump is unrestricted. Is the pump bad. It runs good until the bowl empties. I didn't see any obvious defects in the pump diaphram. <br />Any help would be reatly appreciated. thanks

Re: Nissan 5hp Fuel pump problem?

Take the hose off of the carb, that goes to the fuel pump, and spin the motor over. If fuel starts coming out of the hose, then the fuel pump is good. If no fuel, then pump is bad. Also it could be that the needle valve is not opening up and not letting gas into the carb.
