1982 mercruiser 181, 4 cyl. My low oil light is staying on. I changed the oil pressure sender, so it is npt the sensor. 3 wk wait at boatshop, so i was hoping i could take next steps to verify oil is pumping correctly/diagnose if a problem but dont knpw what to do next. This problem began not long after after an overdue oil change (filter is on tight) . I have learned (with forums help) to fix most everything else and did so with success... Overheating, removing and installing upper and lower unit, circ pump, starter and solenoids... So am hoping i can troubleshoot this instead of waiting on boatshop. Many thx for advice!

See if you can hook up a mechanical gauge if that gives the same reading, then its time to do engine work...

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Hook up a mechanical gauge,...

If it reads Right, clean the grounds from the battery to the block,....

If it reads low, pull the motor, as yer probably goin' to have to go in, Deep,....
