Re: new to everything

What would be the benifit of switching over to a chevy other than parts. This will be on the trailer probably 300 days out of the year and will only see fresh water and maybe once every couple years take it out on the coast for a couple days.

I'd try to keep what you have running as long as it runs and you can get parts,.........

Ok, so I went out and checked over the fluids. Top unit I removed the full plug first and pure water came out. Not alot but a small stream. Lower had barely any oil and it deffinately has a water leak somewhere as the oil was chocolate milk. The small box on the side for the tilt looks good. I will be pulling the lower unit to service the water pump so what should I look for as far as internal or external water leaks.

viper, your best bet with OMC drive questions is to post them in the OMC engine repair section. We've got great techs but they don't hang out here in resto.

Catalog Archive

It is a Tyee Offshore I/O.

If you look at the various brochures, you will see that Lund made it for quite a few years and it changed little during that time.

I have a 1975 model with an inline 6 cylinder 165 HP Mercruiser drive.
Mine needs a lot of work as well. The wood is all bad and needs to be replaced.
I am currently working on getting it running. Have rebuilt the carb and done some work on the distributor. Have an impeller kit to install and then we shall see how it runs. After that, we shall tackle the floor etc.

It's been over 3 years since I started this project and I have finally finished her. Took a lot more work than I had originally thought but it was worth it.

Now that is persistence! The boat looks really nice in your first picture. The remaining pictures are sized about as big as a postage stamp, so I can't see all your handiwork...
