I installed a new CDI stator in my 1986 Merc75 yesterday. It was pretty easy actually. I didn't remove the flywheel, I just marked it well and pulled the inner bolts out so I could remove the flexplate from the hub. It was really easy with my impact gun. Then the new stator went in and it was back together pretty quickly. It ran pretty well after the job to boot. Thanks to this forum and the members I figured it wouldn't be too tough a job. Next is a new impeller. The one in there works well but it probably needs a new one.
