new starter for Alpha One 5.0L

Hi,

I have a Merc Alpha Once 5.0L 305. I need to replace the starter but searching online i cant figure out if its the PG200 or PG260. How can i tell? Do I physically need to measure my current starter? It appears they two are different diameters.

Ayuh,.... Take yer's off, 'n look at it....

The differences in Chevy starters is their Bolt patterns,....
Straight across, 'n Staggered...

I had my old one rebuilt by J&N Elect here in cincy. It think it was around $145 to get it done. With doing it this way you know you have the one that fits.

Wow that's kind of annoying. I was hoping to order it in advance and then bring it home and swap it out. I wonder how hard it is to tell which it is before I take it off. Any idea which is straight and which is staggered?
