Hi there, I will start off by introducing myself as I am new to the Fourm.
I am Taylor, a Cadet at Maine Maritime Academy. I am 20 years old an live in Greenville Maine on Moosehead Lake. I have a lot of wrenching experience but my outboard and boating experience is limited to my old 1973 6hp Johnson and a POS 11' aluminum boat.
Now to the resto project. I found an old 15' Mirro on craigslist in my home town. it has a 1971 Evinrude Ski Twin 40 on it. I am unsure of the year of the boat and I am relying on my dad to forward me the information on the name plate. I am shipped out for another month in the gulf of mexico so I am trying to get some information before I get home. I have a number stamped on the outside of the stern. It is B 2 4 1 2 1 8 but have not idea what it is. It is a closed bow aluminum boat with two bench seats. I will post some pictures later on today. I plan to restore the boat and motor and understand that it is a very time and money intensive project but I am very excited about it. I picked the Boat motor and trailer up for a mere 200$ so I figured I couldn't lose.
I would appreciate any information, advice, links, comments or concerns that you may have.
