Hi All
I got a rebuild kit for the tilt /trim motor for a 197 Johnson 40hp I have.
There is three wires that go into the Tilt Motor, Green, Blue and Black.
I have a new cap that comes with brushes , the trouble is the old wires were broke/rotted off.
There is a internal Black Wire that was still attached to the old cap , the other end of it is still attached and runs to the internal windings on the body of the motor
There is a internal Green Wire that look like its hooked to the internal windings and then would leave the tilt motor via the green wire.
There is a internal Blue wire that looks like its hooked to the internal windings and then leaves the tilt motorvia the blue wire, there is a bared part that looks like there may have been another wire attached to the blue, maybe used to run up to the cap(brushes)??
Still leaves the External Black Wire , I wonder if it is supposed to be joined to the internal Black Wire?
I think I need another wire to the brushes, it looks like maybe there was a internal wire that was tapped onto the internal blue wire that may have run up to the old brushes.
I know the brushes need one positive and one negative to work.
I just can't find a daigram anywhere for this.
Thanks
Paul
