NEED opinion on 2004 johnson 140 4 strokes

Considering a boat with 2004 twin johnson 140 4 strokes. Ive been away from outboards for 10 years. Any known issues with these engines? Parts / service availability, performance?..Thanks..

Those are rebranded Suzuki DF140s. They are unique in that they are smaller, lighter and quieter than other EFI 4 strokes in that power class. Because of their smaller displacement they are not for drag racers but cruise like any other 140HP 4 stroke.

The quality of service from Suzuki dealers seems spotty, but I have, and have heard, no complaints about Johnson/BRP Customer Service on the same engines.

I loved my Suzuki DF70 and would not hesitate to buy a DF140 or the Johnson version for a boat that needed that amount of power.
