The trim was working when I got the boat but was working on getting the motor running and noticed the trim stopped working I need help on brush holder assembly and what’s inside the trim motor I swapped a black wire from being on top to the bottom just trying everything to make it work. And it worked for a split second and stopped I took it back apart and noticed the little button on the contact tab was gone it fell out and I squeezed it in there does it need to be glued or what. I put an arrow to the little round thing that fell out and circled the black wire that I moved to the bottom under the assembly thinking maybe it’s a ground and needs to touch the metal of the trim motor is that part correct in the picture or me moving it to bottom is that correct thanks

I believe those parts are a " thermal overload " device.-----Not a good idea to move wires and guessing.

If too much current goes through that assembly the bimetallic strip heats and opens the circuit ---trim motor stops before it is destroyed.
