need help to find what to look for in my first lake erie boat project????

i was wondering if anyone could tell me thing to look for in when i buy my first lake erie boat. i have found a 1973 reinell 22' fiberglass boat with hard top. all i really know about the boat is that it was winterz two years ago and it sat out side uncover for those two year. so just need to find out what i should look for in the boat before i make a good dission or a bad one. any help will be good help.

I would see if the lower unit has oil in it, any water in it. Oil seapage out of the lower unit.
I would see if you can start the engine on ear muffs and let it run for 30 minutes.
I would put it in gear forward and reverse.
Be real nice if they would take it to the water and let you do this.

Check the floor for soft spots.
Check the stringers for rot. Check the transom for rot on the inside by the engine.

What ever you find wrong either start to bargain or buy it and know what you are getting into....or walk away.

It all depends on the price....how much you can do yourself or how much it will cost you to have it done.

when were the stringers and transom last redone?
if not ...they'll be needing it.
