Cup and X-Men are at Bristol for the Spring race. A hair over a 1/2 mile in length and 43 cars trying to fight to the front leads to frayed tempers. Fireworks are the norm after 42 drivers get mad at each other. This should be the best race of the year so far. Here is the MRN Schedule;
The K&N Pro practice and qualifying is a done deal and the first Cup practice is at Noon tomorrow. 45 teams are entered, so 2 will watch from the sidelines. The team of Travis Kvapil didn't bother entering this week.

FlaCowboy got his second gold medal, well we're poor so all he got was one of these - :first:, his second of the year. He also moved up the ladder to take over first place in the overall standings. Way to go, Cowboy!
Make any changes before race time and good luck to all.

The News
- The official name of the race is Bristol the Food City 500 In Support Of Steve Byrnes And Stand Up To Cancer, Brynes, a long time Nascar and Fox race reporter/announcer is suffering from cancer and has been on leave of absence while undergoing treatment.
- Grand Marshalls for the race are Ella and Leo Gordon. Yeah, they're his 7 & 4 year old kids.
- Kyle Busch said during an interview this week he knew it was going to be bad before he hit the wall at Daytona, He doesn't have a time table to return.
- Nascar is not in favor of tire air pressure bleeders because they are saying "don't know if there are any bleeders out there at the level that these cars would require". Oh, OK
- But in the advancement of Nascar technology, digital dashboards were tested this week at Kentucky. They will be allowed in competition after 8/5/15 and will be required beginning in 2016.
- Which leads to another interesting Nascar conundrum. From Nascar - "The dashboard has the ability to monitor a variety of data including lap times and tire pressure as well as keeping drivers informed on other items during pit stops. NASCAR has stated at some point the information gathered through the new system would be available to fans and offer an interactive way to monitor a car's performance." How? The only way it can work is by transmitting telemetry data, which is against the rules. F1, IndyCar and as it appears, Nascar will be on common ground in the near future. That's assuming telemetry is allowed after a rule change. So probably Yes on telemetry and No on tire bleeders.
- So no bleeders per the rule book, which leads to the two penalty appeals this week;
- One appeal heard this week is the rules infraction by the #33 team regarding unapproved suspension mounting parts. The ruling was upheld, but the penalties were reduced and the appeal panel changed from a P4 to a P2 infraction. Crew Chief Slugger Labbe only has to pay $20K instead of $50, but the 3 race ban stays in place. Why - Because the rule book is not clear.
- The other appeal is for the #31 team of Ryan Newman for drilling tiny bleeder holes in the tires to control air pressure (A guess because Nascar has never said what the violation was) and the penalty was reduced by a bunch of money and points, but all suspensions remain. My question is how can a rule be violated if there isn't a provision in the testing procedure? RCR may not be done and has one more appeal stage.
