name the part

Hi all. Just joined Iboats and this is my first post.

I just bought a 1971 7.5hp mercury motor for cheap.
I thought it was only missing a connector along the fuel line, but it turns out there is more than that missing.

So, my question is this.

Between the connector for the gas tank and the carburator, does it need a fuel pump or just a fuel filter?

I ordered a repair manual for my motor so I would have figured it out eventually. I'm just impatient by nature.

I checked out your link and got the part# but it would cost more in shipping than the parts themselves.

I'll try to locate a dealer nearby.
