Hi new member been reading different posts before I started my restoration on my 1981 Starcraft 160ss with johnson 90 and 574 hrs. It is all orignial the floor had a few soft spots so you all know happens next. I have a few questions the rails on the bow for the front seats have a few broken rivets. Where is best place to get rivets and tools for install. I will try and post a few pictures of it. Sorry if some of pictures are blurry some are from my phone. Thank you for all your information, knowledge and any helpful hints and comments.
Randy

Re: My 1981 Starcraft 160ss restoration

I picked up this fine boat in August last year. The family and I love going out. The seats were rotten also if you noticed stainless steel plates on the side of the seats to hold them together. Thats the way I got it. I have a few pictures of the restoration in progress I will post also. I have been thinking about installing some blue led rope lighting under gunwales for night for lighting and in bow area. Anyone have pictures or comments on doing this. The picture of corner is where all the soft wood starts and goes over about a foot and all the way back. A few of the pictures show new pedestal seating that I am installing. I figured I would lay out locations before floor was removed.
Thanks,
Randy

I've got your boats slightly younger cousin. I just picked up a 1983 PikeMaster 160! Pretty much stock so if you have any questions, I'd try to help as much as I can. Just started tearing into mine. My floors had been done by the previous owner so I missed out on all that fun :( I'll be subscribing to your thread here and look forward to your updates!

Not sure on the locker. Was thinking about making it into a fishing rod storage area. Thinking aluminum attached to the stringers, thinking about 7 feet long. Still up in the air on it though.

HELLO ...got a PM on L.E.D. lights...MY boat never did have blue lights...I have seen pictures of other people with the blue LEDs ...love the looks of the blue ones...I have never worked with the "rope lights".,...I converted my trailer lights to L.E.D.
and loved how bright the red side markers were...used the same side markers under my gunwales...8 per side plus 1 under
each console...turned out great...have not done any night-time fishing...does help finding stuff when I'm unloading the boat
at night...I've only seen the side markers in Red, Yellow and Purple....my tach is red at night and decided to go with the red....If you want to see some great lighting look at veilside180sx ... 1971 16' ss page 9 reply #205
I love that he can change the colors:D ...some pics of my boat below

Not much accomplished this weekend. Epoxyed the wood and installed seat base supports on under side of wood. Hopefully get wood installed this weekend and put the Tuff coating on, going to try instead of carpet. I figure if we don't likeit can just carpet over it. Just ordered some more parts for this little project of mine. Does it ever end on the cost of these project :D.

There is a good reason they call boats a hole in the water your throw money into LOL. Your making some good progress, I used
1/8"aluminum for the bottom of the ski locker in the 87.

Re: My 1981 Starcraft 160ss restoration

I was wondering if anybody has any pictures of the side of my boat to show the logo. Looks like mine had emblems. I would like to find 2 of them or paint on into the stripe. I found a picture on google search just can't blow it up big enough to get an idea. here is a link to picture http://www.recreationalsalvage.com/auction/detail.asp?id=511.

Hi Dozerll
I think so but I can't blow up your picture. My boat does not have either side if it is possible to get them or find them it would be great. I really dont want to try and make a pattern to paint into the stripe. I geuss I could add it later down the road.

Re: My 1981 Starcraft 160ss restoration

Was able to spend a good solid day on the boat today. Made an inexpensive ski locker had some oak in garage so stripped it and riveted it to some aluminum pieces I also had in garage. Need to keep cost down :D some how. The floor is in and riveted down and 1 coat of Tuff coating is on Check it tomorrow and see if needs another coat. Opened can and it was gray colored I freaked out until I started mixing and working up bottom. I am looking foward to trying it out.
