just tried a mix of four to one water and muriatic acid. Spray it on, scrub, hose off. Stuff is on for less than a minute but instant clean. All brown waterline and algie crud gone. Do a small section, rinse, move on. I kkow theres been neg talk about this but its on for such a short time and than totally rinsed. Can this harm the toons?

Get a protectant on it so you don't need to acid wash them every year, something like Shark Hide, every time you do that you take off a small amount of the metal so after doing it a few times the toons are actually thinner.

I also think it takes the smooth finish off the aluminum and makes it get dirty faster and hold the dirt better because it is no longer smooth.

I think that's true. Seems like when I used to wash the logs with coil cleaner, they would get dirty real fast and oxidize pretty quick too. Sharkhide will stop that..

Pressure washer with a turbo tip cleans them off without any chemicals.
