Mounting trolling motor

does it matter or make a difference what side the trolling motor is mounted ?

As close as possible to the center. It doesn't matter which side but you want it easy to control.

Side doesn't matter just be sure when it is stowed it doesn't hang over the side of the boat, if it does it could snag a dock or something and maybe wreck it.

On mmine the lower part has to over hang a bit, keep playing with the position till you find a good spot.
